Marion Orr MA RPC
I am motivated by the belief that change is possible, necessary, and inevitable, and that you can activate or improve your sense of capacity with increased awareness of your relationship and reactions to change. Counselling can uncover the conditions for healing and help you learn how to create or maintain these conditions in your life. Counselling can provide the right support and safety for new awareness, perspective, or direction.
My work is integrative, combining a variety of modalities to meet the needs of my clients. I come from a feminist, Buddhist, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive foundation.
To provide compassionate quality counselling, where individuals are able to unite their sense of self with one of well-being, understanding, and purpose.
I earned a BA in Conflict Resolution from University of Winnipeg (2003) and a MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University (2013). I am a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC) with the Canadian Professional Counsellor's Association (CPCA), a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and a member of the Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health (CPATH). I am a trained teacher in Mindful Self-Compassion (Centre for MSC, University of California San Diego) and have Basic Training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I have worked with youth and adults for 15+ years. I currently provide individual therapy and group workshops to the public and am part of the Centralized Intake team with Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre.
