Marion Orr MA RPC CCC
I am motivated by the belief that change is possible, necessary, even inevitable, and that we can improve our sense of capacity to manage life's challenges through increased awareness of our relationships with and reactions to change. Counselling encourages insight, new perspectives, and provides guidance towards living a life based on your values. I believe that counselling can help uncover the conditions for healing and help you learn how to create or maintain these conditions in your life.
My work is integrative, combining a variety of modalities to meet the needs of my clients. I come from a feminist, Buddhist, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive foundation.
To provide compassionate quality counselling, where individuals are able to unite their sense of self with well-being, clarity, compassion, and purpose.
I earned a Bachelor or Arts in Conflict Resolution from University of Winnipeg (2003) and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University (2013). I am a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC) with the Canadian Professional Counsellor's Association (CPCA), a Canadian Certified Counselor (C.C.C.) of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and a member of the Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health (CPATH). I am a trained teacher in Mindful Self-Compassion (Centre for MSC, University of California San Diego) and have Basic Training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I am continuing to grow and build an independent practice based on 15+ years of facilitating groups and offering individual and family therapy. I am currently a member of the Winnipeg Wellness Collective. My employment history includes therapy, crisis counselling, intake, and case management experience with Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre, Bravestone Centre Inc, Macdonald Youth Services, and Okanagan Boys and Girls Club.
